Positive: Ideally situated in a very peaceful location, this property offers stunning views of the Dordogne river, and surrounding woods. The castle has retained its period charm, and has not been renovated or modernised beyond recognition. The owners were most welcoming, and provided us with an improvised, tasty, home-cooked evening meal (delicious cèpe omelette!😋) at the drop of a hat, although we hadn’t booked this in advance! Our room was comfortable and clean. We had a private access to an outside terrace with deck chairs overlooking the water and garden. Hearty breakfast with local honey, and home-made jams. Altogether good value for money!

Negative: There were a few troublesome moskitos, but our hosts kindly supplied us with a natural spray which kept them at bay during our evening meal on the terrace! The owners still have some way to go to renovate the outbuildings of the castle, but we were not affected by the works. Our bathroom was simple, but fully functional, with good water pressure in the shower. On the minus side, there was no elevator, which could pose some difficulties for visitors with mobility problems.

Summary: A most pleasant stay, which we would gladly have prolonged in order to visit the surrounding sights. I shall definitely
